Educational and General Requirements
Applications with Higher Education Study
Applicants who have completed or partially completed higher education study in a recognised Australian Higher Education Institute/ University may be eligible for admission to AIH on the basis of those studies. Higher education may include but is not limited to Diploma, Undergraduate or Postgraduate, achieved in one of the Australian recognised Higher Education Institutes/ Universities.
Applicants with higher education study may be eligible to apply for Advanced Standing (AS) with AIH (refer to AIH Advanced Standing Policy and Procedure for more information).
Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) Study
Applicants who have completed any accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification at an AQF Level 4 or higher may be eligible for admissions to an AIH course.
Applicants with an AQF 5 qualification or higher may also be eligible to apply for Advanced Standing (AS) with AIH (refer to AIH Advanced Standing Policy and Procedure for more information)
Applicants with Recent Secondary Education (Within the Past 2 Years) and Equivalency Programs
For applicants who have recently completed their secondary education in Australian, Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) scores are used for admission to AIH undergraduate courses. Applicants must demonstrate successful completion of Australian Year 12 or its international equivalent. Assessment is based on a 55% average over all the units undertaken in the final year (Year 12).
AIH may consider applicants who have completed a recognised Foundation Studies course or Secondary Education in a non-ATAR stream for admission to its undergraduate courses on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants with only recent secondary education will not be eligible for Advanced Standing (AS) for courses at AIH.
Alternative Entry
Applicants who don’t meet the above academic requirements may be eligible for alternative entry via the following:
Mature Aged Applicants may gain entry to undergraduate courses via the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), a two-hour aptitude test that demonstrates your capability of undertaking future tertiary study. Refer to the Multiple Choice (MC) test on the ACER STAT website.
Mature aged applicants may also be eligible for admission to select postgraduate courses based on relevant work experience. Please refer to the Student Admission Policy and Procedure.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Applicants have an opportunity to illustrate their capability for higher education via a testing, assessment and interview process. Selection is also based on other factors including previous education and prior learning. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants wishing to apply for special entry will be required to submit a personal statement outlining their education as well as sit a Special Admissions Test.
