What is the PIP?
The Practical Industry Project (PIP) is your final-year Capstone subject reimagined. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with a real company on a real-world business challenge, while earning credit toward your degree. It’s your chance to apply what you’ve learnt in a practical, supported, and career-building environment.
How It Works

Every student in every course*
*Launching in Block 5 2025. Available to all students in all courses from Block 1 2026.
When?
In your final year, as your Capstone subject
How long?
4 or 8 weeks (depending on your course, see below)

FAQs
Is this optional?
No. The PIP is your Capstone project, it’s credit-bearing and required for course completion.
Do I need to apply?
No. All students are automatically placed in their course’s PIP once enrolled in the Capstone unit.
Do I need to pay extra?
No. The PIP is covered as part of your existing tuition fee.
What support will I have?
You’ll work in teams of up to six students, supported by an industry mentor and your lecturer.
